How Some Whitening Products May or May Not Help

Coffee, cigarettes and even the shortage of brushing can leave your teeth discolored and yellowing. Anyone with yellow, stained teeth can tell you that smiling for pictures and even talking to individuals can be a bit uncomfortable. Whitening solutions can be seen all over the place, from billboards to hygiene department sections to even on television with labels that promise to “whiten in less than 10 days” or “whiten your teeth with one tube.” The slogans promote the same idea: eliminating coffee stains and other discoloration and giving you that bright, fluorescent smile you’ve always sought.
Whitening Paste
Whitening paste is affordable, and many users can notice results within a few weeks of brushing often. Pastes do not require any special application process—just a simple brushing of the teeth for the chemicals to begin functioning. Just like a traditional toothpaste, the whitening paste helps get rid of plaque while defending against cavities and whitening your teeth.
The downside to many of these pastes is that, while they may work like normal toothpaste, many will not help brighten your teeth by much. The reason is that many of the toothpastes that pledge whiter teeth do not have the necessary chemicals that provide a noticeably whiter smile as seen on billboards or television. Sure, whitening paste can be cheap, but the cost also comes with the downside of working very slowly, often times requiring more than a few weeks to actually show any signs of improvement.
Gel Kits
You watched a couple of ads about Sherman Oaks teeth whitening and know you want to enhance your teeth color without the cost of seeing a professional. You can go to your local hygiene aisle of Wal-Mart or Target and get a whitening kit to help improve your smile with gel or paste. Each kit varies in cost, method and length of treatments you receive; however, gels will work faster and better than normal whitening paste. The hitches to these gel kits are the application process that can take a few days to even weeks and the discomfort experienced on the user’s gums.
Dentist
That same Sherman Oaks teeth whitening ad you may have seen might sound much more attractive if you want to avoid the self-application methods and have a professional whiten your teeth. The cost may be a bit higher, but if you go to a dentist, your teeth will be noticeably brighter after the first day, and unlike the other pathways, which have lengthy application times, a dentist will grant immediate results.
